Some sit still and slumber; others doze fitfully. Waiting for what, they are not sure. Our cocoons keep us protected from the elements. Camouflage is the way to survival. The layers shelter us from the cold despair of the world. Nothing can penetrate the wall we ourselves have successfully made. Inside our shelters we are fragile in our state of transformation, but we feel protected. Warmth from those who shepherd us, teach us, and tell us how to live seeps in but we know there is more. In the dark we sense the alarm is about to go off. It will be time to wake up and work free of the protection of our cocoon so we can emerge into the brilliant sunlight. The process of metamorphosis awaits us.

Dina challenges others to fight. Not only to bridge the gap in their own communities, but to fight to break free of hardened cocoons. Cocoons made of violence, fear, judgment, complacency, and isolation. Dina's hope is when we all do break through, we will unfold and spread our wings. Wings with brilliant colors that remind all of us of love, faith, joy, and freedom. And as we fly unencumbered, we motivate others to do the same. Imagine a sky full of beautiful flying butterflies with brilliant colored wings making a rainbow of hope.
